Night Cometh
Last night, much of the nation watched the Presidential address on the economy. I'm not sure anything new was learned or forth coming. The fact there is no easy solution for our nation's "debt crisis" isn't a surprise. Who IS going to pay?
The news commentators have a good deal to say about the debt. The President certainly had his fifteen minutes last night to "speak to the nation" on the crisis. The senators, legislators and economists all add their fair share to the expanding conversation. I confess my lack of understanding really anything about the conflicting barrage of information down right bored me.
Until
I heard the Christian End-times commentator Hal Lindsey present this very simple yet horrifying fact:
IF
A million seconds = 12 days
A billion seconds = 32 years
A trillion seconds = 32,000 years
At the rate of
$1 per second
$60 per minute
$3,600 per hour
$86,400 per day
Paying back the amount of money the USA has BORROWED the first 7 months of the fiscal year 2011 would take
27,808 YEARS to pay back
For some reason no one is saying that!
"I must work the works of Him who sent me, while it is day; the night cometh when no man can work." John 9:4
When I consider the FACTS regarding the state of our national economy, I understand better the economic debt crisis Sunshine After Rain Ministries is facing. As difficult as our country's crisis is, and as difficult as all of our combined individual crisis' are, they are small by compare to what our brothers and sisters in other parts of the world are facing today.
"...there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. If one part suffers, EVERY PART suffers with it." 1 Corinthians 12:26
I have to wonder if our failure to regard the welfare of others (and I am not speaking nation to nation, but believer to believer) hasn't brought on some of our present suffering?
But suffering and lack is something they are familiar with. They have faced those same crisis' each and every day of their lives:
No clean water
No access to medical help
No consistent source of food
No civil rights
No education
No freedom to worship
No BIBLES
No churches
No Pastors
No Evangelists
"How can they call on the One they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As is it written, "How beautiful are the feet of those who bring the Good News!" Romans 10:14-15
